And how is this going to return the Senate to the Dems, sink?

When Lott resigns, Ronnie Musgrove appoints a democrat and then Chafee jumps. Voila!

I have not anywhere called for Lott to resign his Senate seat, nor have most conservatives critical of Lott. He should resign as Senate Majority leader (a position with national implications, thereby my concern as a member of the GOP) and remain in the Senate, and then, in the next scheduled election, let the people of Mississippi decide if they want him to remain their senator (something that is NOT my business).

By Jove, I think you have it. This would insure Dubya'a election in 2004 because the GOP will escape responsibility for any screwups in the next two years by blaming 'Dashhole'. I love it when a plan comes together.
