Politically it isnt. If you argue it you will lose. All that can be done is to apologize profusely and hold on tight. That is currently the situation.
"All you are doing is using the statement AlGore gave to AP concerning what was stated."
I dont know what Al Gore said. And to be honest dont care what he said. With that said it is irrelevent. Trent Lott said what he said and he said it in a manner that left the door open to possible gross misinterpretation.
"You might think that's a ridiculous question - you just love Truman, right?"
??? Listen I'm sorry but I didnt read any of the other stuff that you have written in previous posts [I gave the reasoning behind that earlier]. So I am not sure...and dont care...how Truman plays into this for you. And to be frank...neither does 99% of the rest of America.
"Your lack of interest in that stark historic fact suggests some interesting things about your own attitudes toward Asians and Asian-americans"
Haha Grow up and let it go. I know bitterness has deep roots and tends to manifest itself in subjects that do not relate but with that said, I have no intention of discussing what did or didnt happen with Asian Americans. It is simply not related to this subject. Anyone with an ounce of commonsense tries to discuss the issue at hand instead of introduce their personal dogma [Dogma based on what some other President did in a time of war 50 years ago].
And please do track down what AlGore said. So far he is the ONLY person who appears to have been present, heard it first hand, and made the racism charge in time for Time magazine's issue date. A whole lot of other folks heard what he said (and apparantly saw a film of it all) and it did not initially strike them as a racist statement. That came ONLY after AlGore said it.
But aside from that for a moment, you really are a Harry Truman fan aren't you? Does it upset you when I present evidence that he was a particularly virulent and dangerous racist?
