The statement Lott made is arguable. You do not seem prepared to argue it one way or the other. All you are doing is using the statement AlGore gave to AP concerning what was stated. AlGore is the one who said it was a racist statement!

In point of fact, it was a statement about whether or not Thurmond would have made a better President than Truman.

Look, the Dems of that day were the party of racism. Thurmand didn't like blacks. Truman hated Asians.
