Al Gore on Conan O'Brian Wednesday Late Night (Replay on Comedy Central 7pm TONIGHT)
Jeff B.

Posted on 12/12/2002 8:37:25 AM PST by RFP

In case y'all went to bed early last night, albagore the robotic tuna was Conan's guest on NBC at 12:30am. Set your TIVOs - I believe Conan O'Brian's shows are rebroadcast the following day at 7pm on Comedy Central.

The goron was predictibly wooden. When asked about his position on WOT, tunawood just rambled and contradicted himself that he opposed what Bush was doing but HE would form an international coalition and win the war. This after the hypocrite said that Al Quada is back and the Bush admin isn't doing enough. Then, with right and left hands flailing, albagore blahblahed that Osama and Hussain aren't the same - said that he wouldn't attack Iraq (even though we're not attacking them at present).

TOPICS: Announcements; Political Humor/Cartoons; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: barfalert; bumbling; clueless; confused; hypocrite; robotic; wooden
Not surprising, there was no mention of goron's latest secret trip to China - you know - the one he said was sponsored by Business Week (but Business Week denies it) and where the Chinese were paying something like $6000 apiece for goron photo ops; They supposedly use the photos to advance their careers.

Haha!

Every time I think I like this screen name, someone comes up with a better one. It happened last week, too. As contempt for this clown, this fool, this failure, rises, Freepers become more inventive.

Also, I hear the goron is hosting SNL this weekend. Wonder if he'll dress in drag ala Guiliani? or as a Chad? Oh, I forgot, albagore is already a drag.

Algore will be in Chapel Hill NC on Monday with Tipper for a booksigning at Quail Ridge Books. The funny thing is, the book signing is by INVITATION ONLY!

Has anyone ever heard of a booksigning, at a bookstore open to the public that was by invitation only?

He will be hosting SNL this week as well. Unfortunately, I'll have to watch because my favorite band, Phish is the musical guest.

Quail Ridge Books is in Raleigh, right? Isn't it on Wade Avenue, right behind Meredith College?

I never miss Conan. But last night I just could not bring myself to watch it. Now SNL this saturday, when will the madness stop? Next thing you know they'll be splicing clips of Al into Seinfeld and The Simpsons reruns until somebody, anybody buys his book.

How ironic. When "celebrity" (usually a celebrity "has-been" that is notorious for some career limiting faux pas) appears on Conan O'Brian's show it is usually a sign that their career is on the skids and they are so despirate for media exposure that the will allow O'Brian and Co. to lampoon them to their face. Look at who have been O'Brian's past guests. These are people that can't get a gig on Leno or Letterman, or even the morning talk shows.

The next level down the rung of the talk show circuit is the mid-day shows. Sooner or later Albore will be showing up on info-mercials hawking useless household devices or get rich quick schemes. Then there is the life insurance commercials. And then lastly endorsing Internet/snail-mail spam.

Albore may well haunt our TV nightmares for years to come. But at least we can use that handy invention of his, the remote control to switch channels to some other annoying has-been trying to sell us something we don't want.

That's not quite the way I see it. Conan reaches a younger crowd. Leno still targets the Johnny Carson fans, and Letterman attracts those in between...

O'Brian targets a younger crowd because they are the only ones up that late at night (e.g., coming back from clubbing drunk or stoned, taking a break from a late night of studying, coming off an evening shift at the burger shack, etc.). Not exactly the opinion leaders of America. Look at the shows that run opposite O'Brian's show. Not exactly ceriberal faire.
