This is what we are becoming?
Then I'd say it's about time. The heartbreak of this story is that they didn't ship her back to Mexico to have the baby there. Then none of this would have ever happened, and we wouldn't be stuck with another anchor baby and a several thousand dollar bill for the delivery and hospital stay. I hope she tells all her friends how badly she was treated in case they're thinking of sneaking in too. Sorry Babe, not a shred of sympathy from me. Get out and take your husband, kids, mother, and all other friends and relatives with you!

This is what we should have been 15 years ago.
Instead we have illegals running around like they own the place.

The Denver Post seems to be working overtime to dredge up "Oh the Poor Illegals" stories. Aren't they the same ones that just went nutso over the "poor" brilliant illegal high school graduate who was crying in his beer over not getting a free ride through college and got Rep. Tancredo's attention? Maybe they should try some "Oh the Poor Beleaguered Taxpayers" stories instead.

This is absurdity upon absurdity.
Tina Griego, News Staff Writer Crisp news story Tina. Not a hint of bias, opinion or commentary. Just the facts...

How is she going to pay the bill from the hospital?
To: holyscroller
They plucked her from the living room she had decorated in velvet and lace, protected by rubber runners on the floor and Our Lady of Guadalupe on the wall.
Yeh, well, Tina Griego, you nearly had me...but you forgot to include a section about her decorating the tiny little Christmas tree while wearing her wholly worn slippers on the cold, uncarpeted floor, with only a flickering candle flame heated the room, as she chased away the mouse that absconded with the last tiny bit of food in the house--a piece of cheese.
Come on, Tina, it's the Christmas season....lay it on thicker....more teary-eyed sympathy text. We hear a lot of sympathy stories this time of year. Build it up, Tina....it might develop into a made-for-tv-Christmas-special-movie-of-the-week!

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

She will not try to return illegally, she says. How nice of her. Give her a cookie.

There's gotta be a reasonable solution somewhere, and treating this woman the way the story reads ain't it. You don't think its possible, just maybe, that the author has extremely exaggerated the details?

There's gotta be a reasonable solution somewhere, and treating this woman the way the story reads ain't it. How about they lighten up on the shackles, but the kids don't become automatic American citizens and anchor babies? They go, but they can't come back. Jail if they do. Be firm; no need to be abusive. And for God's sake, control the borders better so there's less of these incidents.
To: nanrod
I agree, they should have held a Immigration hearing within 96 hours and then shipped her back to Mexico........and arrested her husband for harboring an Illegal Alien and placed the children with Social services......
There, the Government gets it's "for the children" good feeling and another person contributes to the penal system.
GET REAL!! They came here illegally and stayed. If we had started 10, 12 , 15 years ago like we should, our welfare system, local hospitals, prison systems, and my taxes would be in a hell of a lot better position. Cry for her? NO....not when they won't even accept our laws or morals.
To: holyscroller
She will not try to return illegally, she says. "I will never, ever forget what happened to me here."Spread the word, honey. We don't want you here, and if you come here, you will be treated badly.
If this is what it takes to have our borders respected, then so be it.
To: holyscroller
As bad as it might be, it beats the treatment gun owners get in Denver - and which the comPost fully supports. When illegal aliens face the laws now in place, we get tear jerker stories like this one from the comPost. But when gun owners face the laws now in place, we get stories calling for laws to be made still tighter, and to finally "get serious" about enforcement.
To: nanrod
#1 Any account written about any situation like this is highly suspect since the illegal in question will be going for the emotional reaction in an effort to be set free.
#2 There was a reasonable solution. She should have STAYED in mexico instead of RETURNING illegally AGAIN.
You see this wasn't the first time she was caught and deported.
She should have been dumped on her arse on the other side of the border the day she was caught. Now we have another anchor baby pseudo american on our hands.
To: Henrietta
She'll be back -and very soon, legally now because she just had herself an anchor baby, a US citizen who'll be her meal ticket.

There are what: 1 million, 5 million, 10 million sad stories like this waiting in the wings? The Immigration & Naturalization Service has only 20,000 beds in their holding facilities, and if they try to enforce even one single deportation order the storm drains are overflowing with tears.
We have to make the choice: either enforcement of immigration laws within secure borders or our nation is history.

It's a felony crime to use stolen Social Security numbers like this woman did but I'll bet the story is completely fake. They should be put into prison but it's not likely a single one has been even for this kind of serious crime. They also should never be allowed to immigrate legally if they've committed felony crimes while here illegally, it might be different for those who didn't commit any other crimes, the ones working for cash only aren't dealing with fraudulent documents.

"

"...working his $11.16-an-hour construction job, managing the duplex he owns,"
Apparently he owns some of the place. Through huge tax breaks, which we legals will never get.
