Exercise is key. Rowing is a great sport. Don't forget to cross-train though. Not many people can take 7-days a week rowing intensively and not suffer injuries without changing up the workout some. Maybe you're a machine and can handle it though.
My exercise program is: 3-4 runs a week (slow distance and also the occasional workout of 4-5 400m sprints) and once a week strength training. Of course I also do the Marine Corps daily 7!

Just looked this up (son of an Army Vet, nephew of a Marine Corps Vet). Dad never lifted that I knew of.
I think I've got something new to try. Thanks!

Agree with the exercise sentiments. But I must say, the best way to combat gaining "bad" weight is through strength training. You rev-up your metabolism so much by breaking down large muscle fibers through resistance training. You basically turm your body into a food furnace. I know not everyone's body is the same though. Also, being single, I have more time to hit the gym that most. I lift 5 or 6 days a week, for about an hour each session. I also get in at least 4 sessions of cardio a week (running- can't shake the habit from 8 years in the Army). The bottom line, I eat like a hog. Hit the gym folks, it works wonders!
