*Bush Names CSX Head as New Treasury Chief -> President Bush nominated CSX Corp. Chairman John W. Snow to replace Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and lead an economic team retooled for the president's re-election drive.
In Other News:
*U.S. forces are staging a major war games simulation in the Gulf state of Qatar to test a forward command center that could direct an eventual conflict in Iraq.
*Mississippi: Former National Republican Party Chairman Haley Barbour has filed paperwork necessary to begin receiving contributions for a run for governor in 2003, a spokesman said.
*Mississippi Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck switched to the Republican Party, confirming political rumors that had circulated for months.
*Feeling overwhelmed by your Christmas card list? Consider the challenge faced by President and Mrs. Bush. Last week, the first couple finished sending out an all-time presidential record of one million Christmas cards. That is more than double the 400,000 cards sent out by Bill Clinton in his last year in office, a number that fueled the nattering in Washington about Mr. Clinton's endless goodbye parties and lachrymose leave-taking. It is also a jump from the 875,000 cards that the Bushes sent last year. This year's specially designed Hallmark cards, which feature an oil painting of a 1938 Steinway grand piano in the Grand Foyer of the White House, were paid for and mailed out by the Republican National Committee.

*South Dakota Poll Workers Expose Democrats' Election Theft
The party of vote fraud is at it again: Democrats perpetrated "serious irregularities" in South Dakota's scandal-plagued U.S. Senate election last month, United Press International revealed today.
Republican poll watchers and workers witnessed sleaze aplenty:
-Three people being offered money for voting for incumbent Democrat Sen. Tim Johnson, who supposedly eked out a 528-vote victory. -Voters giving two or three names to election personnel before finding a name that matched on the voter rolls, which they would use to cast their ballot. -Democrat operatives organizing voter rides from inside the polling place.
The Republican Senate candidate, U.S. Rep. John Thune, quickly caved in after the Nov. 5 election. Thune's decision does not mean the fraud has gone away, a party spokesman told UPI.
