Perhaps Kerry can rise above a clouded past

Perhaps unfairly, perhaps in envy, I incline to a chameleonic understanding of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, who all but announced for president last weekend. He and I are the same age, were in the same school and college classes, liked soccer a lot and politics more. After early political defeats he persisted and prevailed, while in similar circumstances I retreated to the safe sideline of chattering about politics. Hence, envy.

Two campaign workers - his brother, Cameron Kerry, and Thomas Vallely, a future state representative - were arrested for breaking into a rival candidate's office. They said they were protecting Kerry telephone lines from sabotage. This being Massachusetts, and Woodward and Bernstein being on another assignment, charges were dismissed and the case forgotten.

I had forgotten about this break in. This is the first mention of it I have seen in the Massachusetts press since Kerry announced his exploratory committee.

After reading some of the comments made about Kerry by his wife, one wonders if anything but dollarsigns would cause a man to stay with such a woman. She seems to have no respect for him at all. Hiring Chris Black to teach her how to be a candidate's wife is the ultimate insult to her.

These two are as sick as the Gore's.

Teresa holds the money bags. Lots of luck to Kerry trying to keep her quiet.

Kerry's not going to make it for the following reasons:

1. He never smiles. The candidate with the more photogenic smile always wins: GWB, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Kennedy, Eisenhower, FDR.
2. He's boring as hell.
3. For Democrat voters, he served in the wrong army: the American one.
4. He's from Massachusetts. If the Democrats can't carry Taxachusetts automatically, they have only 3 safe electoral votes -- the District of Columbia.

Kerry will die at 78 as a U.S. Senator after having overly strenuous sex with a page. But there's no Hail to the Chief in his future.

You bet. Another little secret from his clouded past: Keery is a notorious womanizer whose staff spent half their time covering up his little indiscretions when he was first running for senate.

If Madame Heinz is saying nasty things about her illustrious hubby, she may be motivated by The Coif's ongoing escapades. Sheesh, you'd think he could keep his slacks (pun !) zipped for a billion bucks, huh?
