Liberals ignoring evidence against Saddam (Why liberals prefer Iraq to America)
National Review ^ | December 6, 2002 | Jonah Goldberg

Excerpts: The British government released this week a gruesomely detailed account of human rights violations by the Iraqi government. Among the "highlights" are the use of electric drills on prisoners' hands, brutal rape of men and women, eye-gouging, cutting off ears, slicing off tongues, lowering of prisoners, slowly, into vats of acid, electroshock and prolonged confinement in coffin-like cages.

operatives in some provinces to "kill 95 percent" of all anti-government demonstrators but spare the remaining 5 percent for interrogation -which would, of course, involve eye-gouging, rape, drills, acid, tongue-slicing, etc.

But why isn't any of this well-documented horror persuasive to groups like Amnesty International or to liberals who revere Amnesty International?

Obviously, it was Vietnam that drained the will to fight from liberalism,

My friends,

“The Viet Nam War Sapped the Strength Out Of America’s LIBERALS Ability To Defend Their Country!”

I STRONGLY DISAGREE!

The Communist in Viet Nam have bragged for years that the most important strategy in their defeating the FRENCH in Viet Nam, BEFORE AMERICAN TROOPS WERE EVER INVOLVED, was their infiltration of the mainland French newspaper editorial staffs and other members of the French mainland news organizations.

And then using the French news organizations to destroy the French citizen’s will to support their soldiers.

In a similar way when the Americans sent their troops into high gear in Viet Nam, the American Communists and the international Communists sent their agents into high gear to infiltrate and manipulate the American press.

Their goal was trough our press to undermine the will of the American people.

The great defeat of Viet Nam, and the reason Viet Nam has been so disastrous for America was that by the time the war was over, the Communists and other Anti-Americans had taken control of America’s press.

When the Viet Nam war ended, the war to destroy America by her new democracy hating American press had just started.

Month after month and year after year the Counter American Culturist hating press spread its poison through out our society.

Hatred for America’s principal that All men are created equal. Has been turned into the fact that the members of leftist’s special interest groups are more equal than other Americans.

Hatred for American’s rights. Hatred for a free press, hatred for free speech, hatred for an American’s right to self-defense, hatred for American’s rights to worship.

Hatred for the principles of free enterprise.

Hatred for every thing that has made America great.

And the American’s new leftist press was very successful. By using cynicism and sarcasm these hateful Socialists started to get candidates who were just as hateful as they were, and who despised America just as much as they did elected to public offices.

Why has the leftist Anti-American press ignored the newly released information, which tells the truth that her enemies are totally despicable?

The Answer is that no matter what happens America’s liberal cynical Anti-American pro international Socialist press will do what ever it takes to win the war against America.

THE WAR THAT NEVER ENDS!

Before America can win, she needs to understand that the most dangerous Ant-American terrorists reside in her nations liberal news rooms, and not in her Mosques!

Most sincerely,

Pliny the younger

I guess the fact that a Republican is in the White House and doesn't have an impeachment to take off of the headlines is the difference between Clinton and G. W. Bush. Funny how Daschle, Gore, the liberal news media, other left-leaners in America and internationally weren't so anti-war with Iraq back in 1998. Can you say HYPOCRISY? Or is this a case of political idealology over love of country?

In order to provide seeming compliance with the mandate of the UN while creating even greater confusion Saddam Hussein has taken a page from Clinton (both Bill and Hill in response to their various subpoenas) and is what I call "air dropping" 13-18,000 pages (In Arabic) of information to confuse the issue while claiming strict compliance. There will be adequate content to enable them (and anyone else for that matter) to argue any point from multiple positions, which will give the white flag crowd at the UN adequate verbal (blah blah blah) cover in their defense of Saddam Hussein in this US/Bush led armament showdown. I don't know what Thursday's discovery by the inspection team of 14 artillery rounds of Mustard Gas-WMD (that had been denied by Iraq up till Wednesday) will have on the report (probably none), . . . . we'll just have to wait and see.

But you also have to consider that the war was mismanaged from the beginning. McNamara, the man who gave Ford the Edsel, had no idea how to win the war. Had the bombing campaign that was waged against Hanoi in December 1972 to January 1973, been waged in 1965 the war would have had a different outcome.

2 December 2002

Iraq: UK government dossier on human rights abuses
Amnesty International has not yet had time to study the report issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office detailing human rights abuses in Iraq. The organization has for many years documented gross human rights violations in Iraq and campaigned for adequate redress of these violations through proper internal and international mechanisms.

The statement attributed today to the Secretary General of Amnesty International is an extract from a previous statement published by the organization in September in response to statements and documents from the British and American governments in which they quoted from reports that Amnesty International had published over the years, on human rights abuses in Iraq.

The human rights situation in Iraq or elsewhere should not be used selectively. The US and other Western governments turned a blind eye to Amnesty International reports of widespread human rights violations in Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war, and ignored Amnesty International's campaign on behalf of the thousands of unarmed Kurdish civilians killed in the 1988 attacks on Halabja.

As the debate on whether to use military force against Iraq escalates, the human rights of the Iraqi people, as a direct consequence of any potential military action, is sorely missing from the equation.

Life, safety and security of civilians must be the paramount consideration in any action taken to resolve the current human rights and humanitarian crisis. The experience of previous armed intervention in the Gulf and other conflicts has shown that, all too often, civilians become the acceptable casualties of war.

My bold.

Not to worry, those links are just for a couple of WWII memoribilia containers and maybe some gas masks.

Yes. If the US media had treated Tet as a defeat for the Viet Cong (as it was), instead of a defeat for our side, the war would have been won.
