[history]
The state Department of Education and outgoing Superintendent Delaine Eastin were slapped Wednesday with a $4.5 million judgment in a whistle-blower case in Sacramento Superior Court.
In an unusual verdict -- holding a high-ranking official personally liable -- the jury found Eastin "acted with malice" and that she should pay punitive damages, which could be millions of dollars more.

The idea is that these government officials will be free to DO THEIR JOB from fear of being suedAs indeed they are. But they are not free to break the law by covering up misuse of funds and retaliating against employees who blow the whistle on the cover-up. Honest, law-abiding government officials have nothing whatsoever to fear from decisions like this.

Why should they be so free? Let them be sued, like everyone else. And if they don't like it, change the civil suit laws.

Clcik here for
KCRA-TV.com article in entirety.
SACRAMENTO, Calif -- A Sacramento man who blew the whistle on the California Department of Education, discovering millions of dollars in fraud, has won his lawsuit, and he won big.
A Sacramento jury awarded whistleblower Jim Lindberg (pictured, right) $4.51 million in compensatory damages in a Sacramento courtroom Wednesday. A jury will still have to determine how much, if any money will be awarded in punitive damages.

Much better outcome than the "take a 12 guage to work option", although both send shivers through the spines of the oppressors.

Seems like to me, that there should be some criminal charges as Eastin Enroned the Education Department:
Investigations later found cases of embezzlement. Education Department officials were unable to account for $11 million in taxpayer funds. Excuse me, those are just the taxpayer $'s and these Rats did it for the chilrun.
If we had a halfway decent newspaper in the state, Eastin would be in jail and trying to plea bargin.
They stole 11 million $'s. That qualifies as a felony!

And then they cry "Not enough teachers/classrooms!!!"
Can you imagine if these were Republican "Big Oil" people?

If Eastin had been a Repubie, every maggot fishwrap in Kali would be crying on the front page, editorial page and comics for her head.
However, since she is a top rat in the DemonicRat Criminal Party, nothing will be done.

I can't remember the name of the Rat who had Eastin's job about 10 years ago. He and his wife had some book racket going for them that was so bad even some rat teachers turned them in.
He resigned, paid a small fine and bought a vineyard and winery with what they made from him approving the books deals his wife was associated with.
The maggot infested fishwraps barely carried anything about this entire mess. If they did the story was sanitized so that it appeared the whistleblowers were the evil people.

Never mind this........what about those pesky, out-of-control, non-regulated, uppity HOMESCHOOLERS?????

Don't forget that Dianne Feinstein's husband is knee-deep in the California textbook industry.....of course, his wife being a Senator would have no bearing on the likelihood of the state actually buying his books, don'tcha know.
