[history]
As President Bush debates how to oust Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, White House insiders suggest so-called moderates within the administration are orchestrating a gradual purge of hard-line conservatives.
"Post-election plans," say White House sources, bearing the fingerprints of closet presidential adviser Karen Hughes, who abruptly departed the White House this year but keeps in close contact with the president.

Bush may be a moron to the Canadians but he is not about to shoot himself in the foot. If Rumsfeld were to be pushed out, there would be many a conservative vote going with him, mine included.

Good grief. This stuff doesn't even rise to the respectability accorded to innuendo.

John McCaslin is a writer with integrity. One has to believe he indeed does know something.

He could just be sincerely repeating BS handed to him.

No, he has simply been told something, no doubt by someone who is disgruntled. Bush just said that Cheney was on the ticket in 2004 if he wanted it.
This is silliness. I think everyone is getting ancy to go after Iraq.
To: Poohbah
Once again, that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. McCaslin has demonstrated his integrity many times over and handing him BS would be done only by a fool.

Where would it go? To the Land of Nod, I'm afraid.
We didn't put this guy in office so we could have Clinton Lite.

Forget it. Absolutely impossible. First of all, it's the President who decides who fills these key posts, not "moderates within the administration." Second, George W. Bush is all about loyalty. If he asks you to serve, and you serve him loyally, then he is loyal to you. If anyone's going to get thrown out, it's the scheming-behind-Bush's-back "moderates" once Bush finds out who they are.

I wonder if the trusted source emanated from State?Like Bush is going to ditch his foreign policy team who are CRUCIAL to his Presidency for some others yet to be named moderate Republican heavyweights?Hmmmmm, who would those latter day Eliot Richardson types be? Scrap the A Team on the verge of War? This reads like a DNC plant.

Regardless of what McCaslin has written in the past, President Bush would never do anything as to get rid of Rumsfeld. This guy is dancin' circles around the press, and becoming an icon besides! He reminds us exactly why we have adults in charge. From what I hear, the Bush family is EXTREMELY loyal to the people who are loyal to them, no matter how much heat they take, and there is simply NO WAY that Bush or Rove would dump Cheney or Rumsfeld, IMHO.
This is wishful thinking on the part of some lib who wants to see dissension in the ranks of conservatives. Nor would Karen Hughes leak something this poisonous. Nah. I just don't buy it.

habs...
McCaslin is no dummy. I sent an email to him concerning the BS factor. Maybe he will come in here and make a comment.

That one statement alone highlights just how "out of the loop" the source for this nonsense has to be... wishful thinking and trouble making from someone at State is my guess.
