It (Statue of Liberty) has caused more misinterpritation of our constitution and what America is about than anything else.

Not to be contentious, but it isn't the statue that did this.

It was that danged poem by Ms.Emma Lazarus that some misguided skull full of mush stuck on the statue.

You know, the poem which starts "Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to breathe free....".

That alleged poetry has caused the constitutional misinterpretation.

We ain't gonna let the French surrender be French Givers and take back our statue, no matter what DPL (obviously a DU type) says.

True enough. However, besides that, the French notion of "liberty" has always had more in common with Marx, than with Jefferson and Franklin. French "liberty" and American liberty are different animals. I always look at the statue in that respect.
