You're both right. What he's saying is that the mainstream of America (media, institutions and many, many Americans) and most of Europe are secular 'Christians'. Actually there are many secular 'Christians' who are CINOs, many may even go to church but haven't a clue about what Christianity is, think their pathetic works may save them, etc

Of course, as you point out, there are also many born again, bible believing Christians. But on the world stage what is getting out is the secular, media, Larry King view of America.

Many (most?) of the passtors and priests leading churches in the US today fall into that category. Most of them are caught up in the works salvation trap. It comes from a tiny fraction of Christians actually knowing their Bible.
