Black Parents Upset
County Press (Second Thoughts) ^ | Dec. 4, 2002 | William W. Lawrence

Posted on 12/03/2002 4:29:47 PM PST by Temple Owl

Black residents in Rose Tree Media are angry at the school district. There was an incident in September between a security guard -- whom the parents insist was armed -- and a black female student.

The residents say the guard pushed the girl without cause. The district is not saying much of anything.

I wasn't there. It could be the girl is exaggerating. It could be the guard was provoked more than the girl is implying.

Or it could be the district hired an untrained bozo and let him carry a gun. The parents -- and other adults -- are also very, very angry about how the district has responded to their complaints.

This incident is one more illustration about the unhappy plight of public schools -- especially, it seems, of the ones in the Rose Tree Media District. If those parents had the power to fire the teachers and administrators -- just as they would a doctor or lawyer -- the teachers and administrators would take their complaints much more seriously.

School vouchers would give parents that power. The Republican Party is the party, which has stuck its neck out on vouchers -- despite the wishes of some of its suburban constituents. Blacks vote automatically and almost unanimously for Democrats, even though their children disproportionally suffer from bad schools and disinterested educrats.

Hopefully, the blacks wake up one day. The educational establishment is not their friend. * * * Thomas Jefferson, who founded the Democratic Party in 1792, also became the first Democrat to be elected president.

William Jefferson Blythe Clinton may be the last Democrat to be elected president. He could arguably also be credited with killing what had once been an astonishingly magnificent institution.

Of course Clinton had a lot of help. The pity is that he and his bands of immoral helpers are taking down a lot of decent Democrats with them. It doesn't have to be. All Democrats are not bad and all Republicans are not good. Many Republicans are former Democrats who feel that they did not leave the party -- the party left them.

But the Democrats will have to move fast and change their ways if they are to survive. They have to start thinking positive. They have to go on the offensive. Democrats could and should perplex the Republicans by:

* Promoting a national sales tax to replace the federal income tax.

* Thumbing their nose at the teachers' union and endorsing school vouchers.

* Continuing to hug the tree huggers, but also protecting landowners, farmers and fishermen. Democrats must recognize and restrain the radical Greens who are often as scary as the Unabomber.

*Stop being deceitful about Social Security and late term abortion.

* Stop hating the military.

* Stop seeking to divide the races.

* Stop acting like they hate the idea of a Creator or that they think the Bible is something bad.

* Most importantly, start respecting the Constitution. This means not finding rights (abortion) where none were meant to be; and stop subverting rights (speech, guns) that are specifically enumerated.

Democrats must also refrain from placing extreme left-wingers like Nancy Pelosi in leadership positions. They must replace perfidious career politicians like Ted Kennedy with honest and moral ones.

Will the Democrats take my advice? I don't think so. ***

The Lausanne-based Dalle Molle Institute for Perceptual Artificial Intelligence, a Swiss research institute, is 95-percent certain the latest audiotape speech credited to accused terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden is not authentic. This must mean he is dead. RATS! I was hoping we could find him, kill him and bury him in pigskin.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I really don't get it. LBJ brought in welfare in 1965 over the objections of Democrats like Daniel Patrick Moynham. By removing the presence of a father, it basically destroyed the majority of black families. This is "magnificent"?

That's readily apparent. The institution he was speaking about was either the Presidency or the democrat party.

Obviously not but the author never spoke to the Great Society. Where did you get the idea that he did?

C'mon xJones, don't be like them. This country with the dems in charge won World War II, and went to the moon. We have some creeps (RINOs) that we keep voting in. So if they (the dems) want to do the right (conservative) thing, let's let 'em.

I sort of screwed up the post. The asteriks were used to separate items in the column. Sorry about that.

I have to admit that it's hard to consider the Dems as magnificent about anything. They really did screw this country up pretty bad.

But I used to be a Dem and once upon a time long, long ago they really did look out for the little guy. And a lot of them were anti-communist and pro civil rights.

But what about all those filibustering Southern Democrats that kept trying to derail civil rights? If we're going to rewrite history, let's do a good job of it..

Okay, I'm not a "them". Now I feel better, can I go kill somebody?

I didn't say all of 'em were pro civil rights. Most (well, maybe half) weren't . The Dems, overall, were much more wrong than right, but they were still right about some things.

JFK's Supreme Court appointments were better than Ike's, Nixon's or Ford's.

Yeah. Of course he also picked Arthur J. Goldberg but he was only around for two years.
