I think it's for real. I did a Google search which turned up a few similar requests by Dan Olmsted on other sites, re the Lariam malaria medication. They appeared to be genuine, and requested that responses be sent to
dolmsted@upi.com -- we could probably confirm authenticity by sending an e-mail there. I expect it would be hard to fake a upi.com e-mail addy, as UPI would be keeping pretty close tabs on that.
