And I know where you're coming from, I believe you were railroaded at one time.
But I can disreagard the things family members say, and am interested in more truth than inuendo in regards to what happened that night. they are too emotionally involved.
All the crap that took place in Monaco with Mrs. Maher after the fact is, frankly, irrelevant to Maher's guilt or innocence.
The man took the stand. He spoke what he had say. His defenders want us to see him as an Amercian Soldier. As an honest man. As a caregiver. He had the opportunity to say something different in front of the press. He chose not to. I believe because he believed what he said that day.
Ted Maher is lucky to be out in ten years. Most likely it will mean 2008 or so, with time served and good behavior. He will get to see his kids grow. I thought he was going to get worse.
To state this simply, I knew enough to direct you all to a thread where there is more information.....and since many here haven't even heard of Ted Maher (and I, of course, have), or his plight (which I am at least familiar), it figured it best to post the fact that I am aware (and believe) his statement was taken out of duress; there is definitely something "wrong in Denmark," so to speak, and point out a direction to get more info: the thread, and three FReepers: Phil Dragoo; Fred Mertz; and American Preservative. They can probably give you way more instant information than I could do any justice.
As did I; I only hope he remains alive that long.....
