wait, wait, wait: are you suggesting the procedure when obtaining a confession is to send a court reporter in with no voice recording device? Have you not been to a deposition in last 15 years?
IIRC, Freepers were applauding the cleverness of the folks who got American Taliban John Walker Lindh to confess but didn't tape-record his confession. Something about that giving the prosecution the ability to put the witness to the confession on the stand for testimony, while the defense had no recording they could seek to suppress as evidence.

Oh, just answer the damn question . . . why is there no recording of the confession, more importantly, a video confession? We've had them in the states for over 20 years, the police in MCO were trained in Quantico, I'm pretty sure they know about taping while getting a confession. All of you MCO apologists will create the most complex path explain away the most obvious flags.
