It isn't uncommon to have a "hobby," and to be interested only in a single topic. If you do a search for some of these people, you'll see that you're right: They only show up on threads about a particular narrow topic.

I guess the bottom line is, did he commit the crime he is accused of? And if countries other than ours do not uphold their own laws that are broken, then what are we doing going after Al Quiada, if the same would be expected of us?

That 3 month figure sure makes the confession in open court a bit interesting, no? Almost as if he made a deal...let us appear to win, and we'll let you go home to your wife and kids (after enough time has passed to heal most types of wounds and metabolize most types of drugs).

The same scenario could be argued for any alleged murderer or criminal being held on any charge anywhere in the world. Is your solution to any murder simply to let confessed murderers go free, based on the theory that they *might* have been drugged into providing a confession? What kind of "justice" does that provide to the families of those murdered?

Irrelevant; apples and oranges. Maher's status as a former Green Beret is well-known, and you were the one trying to make excuses for the man "cracking under pressure" of some alleged drugs and confessing. My point is that there were American POWs who did NOT crack under very real pressure, for a much longer period of time and under much more heinous conditions than Maher has been incarcerated. To attempt to compare a convicted civilian murderer's experience with that of genuine POWs is an insult to the POWs.

Your statement on its face would be true, however in this case the confession was voluntarily given on December 6, 1999- three days after the crime was committed!
