Yeah, what if out of my butt flies a gnat?

None of this matters.....Ohio State Will win the Fiesta Bowl. No matter who they play.

See, is'nt it a lot easier when you WIN all your games!

GO BUCKS!!!!

If Notre Dame were in the Pac-10 Conference they would be in last place.

Yep, and it means way too much to people who haven't a clue where all that money goes that the networks give the schools.

A great example of Collegiate Whoredom at its best.

Like the NCAA actually has a clue, and if they do, it is selective, just like the attorneys who bring the litigation...

"This one game cannot be a true indicator."

Sorry Ty, your last and biggest game matters.
That being said, Notre Dame and bcs could well screw Iowa.

My guess is that the Pac 10(screwed last year and the year before), the Big 10(not yet screwed, but scared enough to remember), and the Rose Bowl demand at the next contract a return to the original bowl formats, with a one or three team playoff format after the bowls. So Rose gets its Big 10/Pac 10 matchups guaranteed, and the BCS bowls reverts back to its original format. However by having a post-bowl NC game, the pressure is off to match 1 and 2 in a BCS bowl, while still allowing for 2 at-large teams. BCS system would still be used in the same manner, to rank teams for the at-large spots, and to compute the two NC game teams from the 4 BCS bowl winners. Also would expect an insistence by the Pac10 and Big10(and probably all the major conferences) that the at-large bids be based on BCS rankings.

Still not perfect, but one post-bowls game is probably the best we could get for now. However once that playoff door is opened, it would only be a matter of time before it evolved into a true 8 team playoff, and perhaps eventually 10 or more teams. Plus this ND mess could be the wedge that separates the conferences from the bowls on some of the issues. And ultimately it is the conferences that hold the cards, if ABC or another network can provide a suitable financial alternatives to the BCS bowls.

So under the above system(#28), we'd be expecting: Rose-WSU/OSU, Fiesta-OU/USC, Sugar-UGA/FSU, Orange-Miami/Iowa.

Not bad, and even the Fiesta would likely sell out. Matching the top 2 winners would be ok, matching the 4 winners would be excellent. Let the top 2 ranked winners host the next games, and then the NC game on a neutral site. Thus the risk of fans not travelling to BCS bowls is reduced.

SC, WSU and Cal, who lost to each of them barely at the end of each game, would beat OSU--and maybe a few more pac 10 teams could too

the pac and big should bail on bcs and restore the rose bowl to it's former glory

That's the biggest unreported stroy out there, Miami can lose by 30 next week and still go to the National Championship Game.

Trust me, as a Gator as long as Zook is the coach, the world will beat the Gators (except Georgia, of course)

The good news for you guys is that there's a damn good chance Spurrier will be back in Gainesville in time for the 2004 season. He's hopelessly out of his league in the N.F.L.

Not for certain, several of the outside BCS "experts" say that Georgia, Iowa, and even USC still have a shot at the Fiesta.

It's obvious that the big-10 is the strongest conference in football this year

Flat out baloney, but nice try(though your point about WSU and OSU is well taken).

Iowa lost to the Big 12's 8th place team. OSU beat the Big 12's 5th or 6th place team, at Columbus. Not saying Texas Tech would have certainly won at Lubbock, but it would have been completely different dynamics.

In the sorry pathetic system we have today, OSU deserves to be in the mythical nat'l championship game. But there is no conclusive evidence that they are the best team in the country(could be, but we will never know).

Too bad, it would be very simple and logical to revert the BCS bowls back to how they were before the Rose Bowl joined, and then play 3 playoff games afterwards matching up the Rose and 3 BCS bowl winners. Wouldn't hurt the other minor bowls, because it doesn't really change anything from what we have now, EXCEPT move the selection of a champ from the post-bowls polls to the field, forcing teams to PROVE their worthiness with 3 nonconference wins.

Maybe its time we start organizing a boycott of the BCS bowls next year, with the stated goal of them adding a post-BCS bowls playoff.

Not that these fan boycotts ever work, but ya never know. Just wanted to be the first to suggest it so if it ever does happen, I can claim bragging rights and impress the babes!
