THAT I do not argue with. The right of a nation-state to exist is only as good as its ability to control territory. A national government in exile isn't much of a nation all by itself.

Just as Hussein took Kuwait, it was taken from him. By your logic, you should not care about the allies (US) taking it back. I don't particularily like the concept of an American Imperium imposing a PAX AMERICANA. But, the alternatives all look worse.
I would happily entertain any alternatives that you can come up with. Good ones would brighten up the future a bit. Though I must say, the future doesn't look necessarily horribly glum.
