I don't know how you guage importance, if any of the pieces the allies were putting in place to defeat Germany had failed, we would have lost the war or had it pro-longed needless ly. Precisely! If US and British troops hadn't applied pressure in the west,the Germans would have had all THOSE troops freed up to join in on the attack in the east. Germany would have defeated Russia.
