1) South Carolina Gov. David Beasley was defeated in 1998, after he removed the Confederate Flag from the state capital.

2) 66 percent Mississippi voters retain the state's Confederate-themed flag.

3) 58 percent of voters keep Gulfport/BiloxiConfederate Flag flying.

4) King Roy Barnes (former GA Gov.) is defeated after he changed the Confederate-themed state flag of Georgia.

Barnes is/was an @sshole! While I don't think he lost his job just for the Confederate flag, it definately had a part in his defeat.

This information is a teensy bit incorrect. Gov. David Beasley was defeated because he supported taking the flag off the dome. Gov. Jim Hodges won that race because he said he didn't care either way and intended to do nothing. (Sound familiar? Lincoln said he intended to do nothing about slavery, yet made it the sole purpose for killing 600,000 people...after the fact.)

The flag was removed from the dome in 2000, under Jim Hodge's watch. Jim "one-term" Hodges was defeated in 2002.
