This week on www.StopDemocrats.com
**The News** Main Story:

*President Bush signs Homeland Security Bill: President Bush signed legislation creating a new Department of Homeland Security devoted to preventing domestic terror attacks. He promised it "will focus the full resources of the American government on the safety of the American people."

In Other News:

*After a meeting between Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Rep. Ken Lucas (D-Ky.) before lawmakers left town, Republicans expect a decision about whether the Kentucky Democrat will switch parties. House Republicans are keeping the details about the potential political coup close to the vest and would only speak anonymously about what one GOPaide called "very serious discussions" between Lucas and House GOPleaders.

*With Democrats no longer blocking their way in the Senate, President Bush and Republican congressional leaders plan a more vigorous push on their social policy agenda by trying to limit abortions, provide greater support to religious groups and increase funding for sexual abstinence and fatherhood programs, according to White House officials and key lawmakers.

*U.S. Senate candidate Suzanne Haik Terrell picked up the endorsement of 47 Republican state legislators across Louisiana, two dozen of which were part of a reception committee at the capitol. The endorsements come on the heels of a new poll that shows Terrell ahead of incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu by 8 points.

*Black Republicans Make History in Midterm Elections.

Articles and Commentary:

*The GOP's Sunny Senate Prospects in 2004: If Suzanne Haik Terrell defeats Mary Landrieu, the Democratic incumbent, in Louisiana's Dec. 7 runoff, Republicans will have 52 seats. And Republican ascendancy will, Bainwol thinks, accelerate in 2004. Then Democrats will be defending 19 seats, Republicans only 15 -- and the political geography will heavily favor the Republicans.

*Al and Tipper's Book Tour a Bust

A week of heavy promotion on high-profile venues like CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," ABC's "20/20," CNN's "Larry King Live" and NBC's mega-book mover, the "Today Show," has failed to do much for sales of Al and Tipper Gore's two tomes "Joined at the Heart" and "The Spirit of Family."

In fact, the Gore books seem to be headed for the remainder table with a bullet.

By Saturday night "The Spirit of Family," a collection of photos that depicts American home-life in all its current diversity, ranked at only 790 in sales on Amazon.com.

"Joined at the Heart," the collected wisdom of the Gores on the same subject, was another Amazon.com cellar-dweller, though it managed to pass "Spirit" and reach the rank of 646. Publisher Henry Holt must be delighted.

ranked at only 790 in sales on Amazon.com.

It's fallen down to over 2,500 in the Amazon bestseller list.

Does anybody have any information on how much money Al and Tripper had to PAY the publisher to get these birdcage liners printed?

How do you find the sales number of a book on Amazon? For example, X book is ranked # 271 on Amazon. I looked and couldn't figure out how to get to that number?

*Black Republicans Make History in Midterm Elections.

Lets not forget that the first black senator and second black senator to the US Senate were both Republicans. Lincoln emanicpated the slaves and was a Republican. The first black governor was a Republican. Unfortunately the race riots in the early 1900's put a split between blacks and both parties and it took another 25 years for a black to be elected to office.

For an interesting example of liberal censorship, search for "Blanche Kelso Bruce" on google; this is the first black senator to serve a full term in the US Senate [Republican]. Then search for "Blanche Kelso Bruce" plus "Republican". Notice the huge drop to 97? Not suprisingly most sites that dedicate themselves to "black history" exclude the Bruce's party affiliation.

The Democrats talk a good game about supporting blacks; but in every close election this cycle they told the black hopeful to not run because the state was "too caucasian" -- in Democratic states mind you. What does it mean? It means Democrats understand that large portions of their "base" are racist. Meanwhile Republicans continue to elect black leaders all across the country.
