ITHACA -- Picture this: A single Cornell University student consumes 140 pounds of reading material and 56,000 cases of paper are used and disposed at the campus each year.

To help people visualize these facts, one artist is inviting people to go to Cornell Arboretum and take a walk to Newman Park and inside Slim Jim Woods. There visitors will find a symbolic representation of the consequences of viewing a forest as a natural resource.

And here's the "artist" and her "art"

Is it me, or is there something a little--ahem-- self-contradictory about cutting down trees to create "art" that protests cutting down trees?

Oh well, no one ever said that liberals--especially Ithaca liberals--weren't a bunch of hypocrites.

Oh, and not to mention the hypocrisy of a newspaper whining about how many pieces of paper a University uses in a given time period.

City of Evil bump.

Damn, at first glance I thought the title was "Ithaca Artist stumps for conservatism." Too good to be true, I guess.

thats art?

If a LIBERAL does it, it's "art."

If anyone else does it, it's "logging."

Funny, huh?

I guess that makes the guys chopping down the rain forest into veritable artistic visionaries.

This looks to be on the prime sledding hill in the Plantations. If those things weren't coming down anyway on Monday, they'd be taken away pretty quickly by unhappy sledders (my kids among them).
