With just over a month left in his powerful political career, Wayne County Executive Ed McNamara was greeted at work Friday morning by FBI agents with warrants to search nearly every crevice of his Democratic political machine.
Throughout the day, federal agents, accompanied by state police, conducted a dramatic and wide-ranging hunt for computer and paper records connected to political campaigns, Detroit Metro Airport contracts and a slew of charitable groups tied to McNamara. He leaves office at the end of the year.
Police also searched McNamara's campaign headquarters in Greektown and attempted to question at least two county officials at their homes. Three McNamara staffers were served subpoenas to appear before a federal grand jury...
... Most of the individuals named are high-ranking members of the McNamara administration or have ties to the airport, such as former Airport Director David Katz. Katz was the campaign manager for Gov.-elect Jennifer Granholm, who was not mentioned in the warrant. Granholm could not be reached for comment...
An example of ONE possible crime:
American International, a firm owned by a close friend of McNamara, overcharged the county millions of dollars on several different contracts, according to county consultants and state auditors.
One contract for runway work cost the county $8 million more than the bid; state auditors said the firm overcharged millions of dollars on airport paving and maintenance contracts. No such luck.
Great!, now what about David Boniior (sic)? is he still arounf.
But Robert McNamera has already come out and admitted his treachery in his book. Despite that, he still hasn't been put on trial.

Mine to Joe G:
McNamara popped up on the book tour circuit a while back promoting his mea culpa on Viet Nam. Through clenched teeth, I watched him weep during one TV interview as he declared that he KNEW the entire exercise was wrong as it unfolded -- but did NOTHING to try to stop it.
They are excavating a new, lower level of Hell for McNamara as you read this. It is just above LBJ's.
With a silent prayer for ALL those who fight and die for this country, I extend warmest personal regards to you and General Moore. May you both enjoy the remainder of what I pray will be long and peaceful lives.
Unlike most of us, you have earned them.

Nope. They are putting McNamara right in the same level with LBJ, and boy is LBJ pissed at him for all this whining around he's been doing. He can bend his ear for all eternity, while they fan each other......
Thanks for your kind words about the book and the movie. I will share them with Gen Moore.
Joe
To which I can only add "Amen!"
