In all fairness, may I say that Ms. Thomas's concern for personal liberties, while perhaps politically motivated, is relevant. So far, President Bush has signed the USSA-Patriot-in-Name-Only Act, as well as Campaign Finance Deform, and I suspect he will sign the Homeland Insecurity bill.

I don't know whether Marlo and Helen Thomas are related, but I doubt it. Someone would have mentioned it by now. It's probably a common Lebanese name, or a common Anglicization of a Lebanese name. I believe that the Danny Thomas family are Christian Arabs who emigrated to the US long ago, in the 1920s or so. Helen Thomas was about 60 then.

Just that you understand how *big* a thing we speak of when we mention individual mediot personalities.

When one mentions, "Hearst," "Gannett," "Royters," "Wa Post Co," "ABC," "NBC," "CBC" & hundreds of others ad infinitum ad nauseum?
We're really only speaking about one highly organized, highly coordinated & sophisticated entity which operates as seperate -- legal -- corporations.

There's good reason the mediots were so very successful in pulling off the most outrageous stunts in the 90s right under the noses of millions of otherwise decent, well meaning people; namely, running cover for the most corrupt administration in our Republic's history.
An administration who some say quite literally sold this nation's security to hostile foreign interests & committed multiple acts of murder while breaking scores of other laws at will.

Couldn't do any *one* of those things had there been real, diligent & committed professionals around who call themselves, "Investigative Journalists."
