The attacks could occur at anytime, however, Osama bin Laden, recently referred to the American feast day as a time of retaliation. Thus, Thanksgiving could be the targeted date.

I have not heard anything that specifies Thanksgiving as a target date. Anyone else? I have wondered whether the "big meal" e-mail threat issued by the Buffalo cell around September was a reference to Thanksgiving.

Interestingly, the description of the aftermath, one of widespread infrastructural outages, would also describe the state of affairs after a blinding precursor attack by one or more nuclear armed great powers using Al Qaida and or others as a cut out. If ever there was a time when nuclear armed great powers who do not share in our future vision and who envy our still substantial wealth and open society (and not to mention despise our status as the ONLY great power ever to arise from a nation constructed of immigrants / multiple, radically distinct ethnic groups) were to mount a sneak attack and decapitate the USA (and therefore Western Civilization) the time is soon. Certainly, as we deploy NMD and wise up to the budding geopolitical alignments in Asia that are not in our favor, their window will close. I pray that I am wrong but fear that I am right. History is a very harsh schoolmaster who issues severe punishment to those who do not respect her lessons.

Thanksgiving would be an exceptionally poor time for an attack, because people stay home. New Year's day, with a much higher concentration of people in one place, would be far more likeley.
