Time to take Canada.

No, Just the western provinces. They are the breadbasket and natural resource rich provinces most like the US. Ontario and Quebec and the Eastern sh*tholes can rot in place for all we should care. Alone they'd be no wealthier than Portugal.

Sure it's our business, as a member of NATO, we need to "pull the covers" of our allies when they shirk their responsibility.
Canada is freeloading, it's time they ante'd up.
Great cover story on Canada in the latest National Review - had me in tears of laughter, (and sadness/frustration).

I'd be delighted to pony up, but the Libs are too busy spending money on important things like fountains as tourist attractions in Chretien's home town of Shawinigan, Quebec, a town for which there is no justification whatever. The Candian military couldn't beat the City of Luxembourg police force (OK, I'm exaggerating). We've heard stories for decades now how members of the armed forces go through junkyards to get spare parts for their jeeps, etc. What the hell do the Canadian people care, they've got "free" medical...

So they have sovereignty to conduct their defense regardless of what they're allies recommend, but when we want to go out in the world to defend our citizens from terrorists and tyrants we must first get the world's approval?

If, when you say 'defend' you mean pre-emptively invading
countries you declare to be tyrannies, it helps to have at
least a tacit approval as fig leaf for naked aggression.

well, gwb is more than willing to put OUR troops under UN command, illegally. Why shouldn't he expect everyone to act in the best interests, for "the world." also, see: for "the children," for "peace", for "security."

$3.99 a round!

That is definitely too expensive for the frogs in charge of our neighbor to the north.

Maybe they can switch to pea shooters, I don't think the Canadian military has effected a combat casualty on an enemy since WWII anyway.
