Bush told: Our army is not your business

PRAGUE -- Defence Minister John McCallum suggested yesterday that the U.S. president butt out of Canada's military affairs.

McCallum shot down renewed calls by President George W. Bush for NATO countries such as Canada to boost their defence spending and said Canadians are tired of Bush and Ambassador Paul Cellucci meddling in their affairs.

"I would not urge the president of the United States or the U.S. ambassador to Canada to do my job, to ask for more defence spending," McCallum said yesterday.

"I think a number of Canadians were a little bit ticked off when the ambassador keeps pushing."

He said Canada's defence spending is a "Canadian matter" and shouldn't be tackled by foreign leaders and diplomats.

Bush kicked off the NATO summit in Prague yesterday by demanding every member boost defence spending.

Among NATO's 19 countries, Canada's level of defence spending ranks 17th, ahead of only the tiny Luxembourg and Iceland.

I have a mind to tell Josh McCallum that without the NORAD umbrella, Canada wouldn't even exist. We ask them to help out a little and they whine its too much. Canadian freeloaders here.

Canada is too busy coddling terrorists to worry about defense spending.

I feel for the good people in Canada. I know there are some.

Time to take Canada. Really, once you set aside the border, the differences between Canadians and Americans are miniscule. There ARE regional differences, but beyond that it's a joke. They define themselves by that border, once that falls so does Canadian identity.

Unless one counts bowing to leftist anti-American hatred and socialism as being "canadian."

Canada is a French Puke of a country!!! Bush shouldn't bother with anything Canada, France or Germany. They have made no bones about how they hate our president, our country and our people. The only thing they love is Clinton and that is because he represents everything disgusting and sick that they love. We should leave them to their own devices and if something happens let them defend themselves. Bush is trying too hard with these ungreatful countries. If I were Bush I would tell them to SHOVE IT - DIPLOMACY BE DAMNED!!!

Bunch of ungrateful socialist frogs and kanucks.

Canada doesn't spend on its military because they don't have to worry about being invaded, as they know we will protect their sorry hides.

Thus they are free to spend their money on socialized medicine and supressing free speech with their thought police.

Perhaps we could use a 1000-mi "buffer zone"? Same with mexico. Hmmm... I like it. Kinda like free-fire zones are cleared around base camps: no foliage, ditches or hides. Ya bulldoze it flat, then post a watch.

Either we invade Canada with a few Boy Scout Troops or we seal the border.......If we invade, better do it on a weekend, half their border area citizens are in the U.S. shopping.

It is long past time that we reminded both Canada and mexico that their entire being is defined by their proximity to the United States.

It's time that they were made to realize that "with us or against us" applies to the pip-squeek semi-nations to our north and south. If they don't feel like supporting us, I see no reason for our continuing to support to them.

As to another poster's suggestion that we 'take' Canada; not on your life, that would mean taking mexico as well and I want mexico as an official welfare patient like I want rodents or head lice.

This answer by the current Canadian administration comes as no suprise. The Canadian government paid huge penaties for cancelling contracts made by the previous administration to replace badley needed replacement equipment for their military. I am unfamiliar with when elections come in a parlamentarian system, but perhaps we can look for a rejection of the leftests just as we have seen here in the United States.

I live close to the border with Canada and you realize they are constantly trashing the United States, but are also constantly going for everything American-news, culture, travel... They kiss your butt, but then they trash your country behind your back(until they are caught on their networks or not knowing your an American). They pride themselves in being "nice" while enjoying American culture and interest in the US. They are jealous of the level of independence of the US and their lack of identity. Quite frankly, most of them don't like Bush because he doesn't show an interest in Canada and an obsession with it to say it's somehow better than our country and is not an appologetic American like Clintoon, who'd drag our shame up. Bush is an all-American, great guy who leads his country in pride and they don't like Americans taking pride in ourselves, like the rest of the world. But it's funny how they are always looking at ways to be anti-American, feel they can talk us down and criticize us for the sake of criticism, but are careful to act as "close friends". Like Chretian backtracking on his statements of 9/11 somehow being our fault! The entire military being subjected to nasty shots due to the Afghanistan incident! And with Iraq, they are trying to leave room all the while they don't take a clear position, but then act as if they were with us all along(Britain, Austrailia are greater friends). We are supposed to be grateful to the Canadians...yeah, right. They lack any figures with character or leadership. They just spout patriotism of theirs which relies on bashing the United States constantly.

Wasn't too long ago when many here were singing the praises of the Canadian Snipers in Afghanistan. Let's be careful about the employment of those Boy Scout Troops.

The Liberal government of Canada has destroyed the Canadian military, and possibly Canada along with it.

The previous Conservative government had done its best to repair the damage done by Pierre Trudeau and the Liberals during the 70s & early 80s. They ordered new Helicopters, Subs & other various equipment.

The fist thing the liberals did after being re-elected in the 1990s, was to cancel all those contracts.

Our military is still flying Sea-King helicopters, which went out of production in the 1960s. The Liberals also decided to buy existing subs, rather than building new ones. The result; They bought used subs from the British, which unfortunately have one small problem. They're not sea-worthy. And for the past 2 years, they've been taking care of promised wage increases for our military personal buy taking funds from the equipment procurement budget. Duh!

It's a disgusting, pathetic mess, but nobody up here seems to be upset about it.

That's probably due to the fact that our population has been inundated for the past 50 years by leftwing socialist dribble from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Which has produced a populace who are convinced that socialized everything is good for the country, and that the military isn't really something we need up here.

The CBC also spews out on a regular basis, anti-American propaganda and they are constantly reminding Canadians that they must protect their sovereignty by being anti-American. Unfortunately, these left wing journalist and society types have bought into their own lies.

The fact is, without a strong military you can't protect your sovereignty. And if we don't protect it, who's going to do it for us? The Americans, that's who.

And if that does happen our country will turn into the 51st state, which is exactly what these blithering socialist idiots have been afraid of for years.

Why a liberals & leftwingers always wrong? Because they're idiots, that's why.

Firing that M-2 would cause that "ship" to travel 40 knots/hour backwards.
Excellent for retreating, maybe they can sell them to the frogs.

Bush kicked off the NATO summit in Prague yesterday by demanding every member boost defence spending. A relic of the cold war, it should be disbanded as obsolete, but then the one worlder's would have fewer bottomless pits in which to throw our tax monies. Blackbird.

I just love Bush. I would hate to think what would have happpened if Gore won. I just hope by 2004 Bush is still popular. I would be really scared if a Democreep got in office while the war on terror was on. Our military would be depeleted and our men and women in uniform's moral would be low again. We would be subjected to licking the boots of Hollywierd and the Euroweenies again.

I dunno. 50-cal BMG ammo is going for $3.99 a round (tracer...I think ball ammo is a little less) on Cheaper Than Dirt's website...I doubt Canada's defense ministry would be willing to part with the kind of money it would take to feed a Ma Deuce. Maybe someting more of the rubber band powered variety?

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
