do you really believe these "loyal American Muslims," will stand against their religion and their religious leaders?"

If you had a little historical knowledge, you would scoff at the irony of your post. You pose the exact same questions the 19th century Know-Nothing Party asked about Catholics, namely would they owe primary allegiance to the Pope or to America. The same question has been asked about American Jews and our supposed loyalties to Israel, and Japanese Americans to Japan.

There will always be a few exceptions, but in every case, the overwhelming majority of folks who have come to the United States do so because they want to become Americans. Will a few Muslim Americans back the Mullahs against us? Yes. Do a few American Jews spy for Israel? Sure. But the overwhelming majority of all these groups are loyal Americans, and are at least as loyal to the nation as you are.

What some of the anti-Muslims forget is that many and probably most American Muslims move here to get away from "Sharia" government. They are our allies in the fight against the fanatics, not our enemies. President Bush knows them as people, not as a shadowy "them", the same is the case with Colin Powell. Even Netanyahu, once he sat down with them and talked, ended up having reasonably good relations with the Palestinians and excellent relations with the Jordanians.

A big part of the American ideal is judging people as individuals, not as members of groups. If we succumb to group-think, we are no better than Democrats, who thrive on such. As Andy points out, Catholics and Jews both faced this sort of prejudice in the early days of our nation. There's no reason to repeat it.

You are living in a fantasy world. Except for a handful of brave souls, there has been no widespread, or even narrowly spread, condemnation of terrorism, much less Islamism, among Moslems in the U.S.

In reality we must judge people by their associations, to do otherwise is foolhardy.

Is that true? Then why the little Jenins and little Beruits in places like NJ and Mich? Why the convenience stores selling jihad tapes?

"...most American Muslims move here to get away from "Sharia" government"

Many American Muslims probably did move here to get away from repressive Islamic laws and governments and to enjoy the mall, movies and all the comforts of life the West has to offer.

However, I personally believe that such Muslims, however benevolent, are not truly embracing the tenets of Islam. And I am thankful that they don't! If one is truly honest, the radical jihadists of the world are reading and following their Qur'an in the footsteps of Mohammad, and the peaceful, patriotic American Muslims are not. It would be anathema for hardcore Muslims to come here for any purpose other than to convert America to Islam, or to conquer us.

Sorry if I don't buy off on the religion of peace theory. I just can't equate flag-burning, throat-slitting, slave-taking, bus-bombing chauvinistic moon god worshippers with Jews and Christians. Call it my own personal weakness.

If they are our allies why don't they show it? Most American moslems probably believe as do the rest that the Jews were behind 9/11.

Islam is a deadly enemy to non-moslems AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN. You need to review the history of its spread before you try and pass off a whitewashed version of its reality around here. Far too many understand its murderous ways and they are easy to see.

To this day Murderers murder across the world claiming they act for the glory of Islam. It has from the beginning been an intolerant "religion" of war. War is first and foremost among its tools of proselytization, without war Islam would have never existed more than a decade or so. Convert or die is its principle slogan.
