Wasn't General Motors just weeks ago in Atlanta sponsoring some Christian concerts? Poor GM!

Why don't they just become Amish? Except for horse poop, what could be cleaner than a buggy?

Evangelicals???? More like leftist pacifist mainline Christians

The "Evangelical" headline is misleading. This is a group of extreme far-left liberal loons who have made a cult out of political correctness.
The religious groups which include the Korean Presbyterians, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the Mennonite Church are promoting hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles, as well as other fuel-saving technologies, framing their arguments in both moral and economic terms.
"If you in the American auto industry manufacture and market more clean cars, we in the American religious community will not only tell our people about it, but we'll have prepared them to embrace such a change," said David Saperstein, director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington.
What would Jesus drive? A HONKIN' BIG SUV!!!!

Why did you change teh headline to say "evangelicals."
For one thing, it is not evangelicals that are involved in the effort. Secondly, the last paragraph indicates the NCC is heavily involved in this. They are about as far from being evangelical as you can get.
Evangelicals are not driving this. Liberals are.

Then why did God create animals with digestive systems in such a manner that they must fart to live?

I say what the hell,if they want to encourage GM to make cleaner more efficent autos, great. As they are not calling for any boycotts,I doubt they are seriously ruffling any feathers at GM.

What would Jesus drive? Yeesh, this reminds me of theologians that used to debate about how many angels could dance on the head of a pin. These morons are the pinheads that the debate referred to.

Get the press, suddenly caring what Christians think.
To: rovenstinez
These aren't Christian Evangelists. These are the very, very liberal mainline protestant churches who are pro-woman preacher; pro-gay and lesbian preacher; pro-same-sex marriage; pro-abortion; if it feels good, do it; etc. These people don't have a Christian thought in their brains.

I don't know what Jesus would drive, but I drive a 2001 GMC Sierra with a gas guzzling 5.3 V8, and I absolutely love it. And I ain't givin' it up.

I wonder if these liberals will actually go beyond their platitudes and live their convictions as you have...nope; I would doubt it.
That isn't too expensive for what you get.

If these are the same folks that were on Fox earlier today (What would Jesus drive?), I wouldn't call them Christian leaders. I'd call them exploiters. They're using the word of God and the good reputation of Jesus to sell an idea.

What would Jesus drive? Dude, my pal Jesus Gonzalez drives a souped up low rider 1959 Chevy, a polluting gas guzzler! He's got a statuette of that other Jesus on his dashboard, one crucifix hanging from his rearview mirror and the other hanging from his neck. More power to him!

The NCC aren't evangelists and wouldn't know Jesus Christ of Nazareth if He sat down next to them during one of their charades they call 'church'...
