Observation on the Homeland Terror Debate: Craig vs Jeffords

TOPICS: Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: debate; nocontest; terror
Pardon the vanity. I'm stuck in the house recovering frm surgery and got to watch much of today's Senate discussion on the Homeland Terror Bill.

I don't know a lot about Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, but he sure impressed me with his speech today covering the plight of the folks afflicted by drought and the need for passage of the Homeland Security Bill.

He rightly railed at the Dems who continue to drag their feet, bitch and moan right up to the last minute even knowing they are going to lose another one.

Craig spoke for about 20 minutes without once referring to a note, never stumbling and generally looking and sounding like he knew what he was talking about.

I was thinking at the time that he is a far cry from Vermont's turncoat James Jeffords whom I have never heard speak extemporaneously with any conviction.

After taking a break, I turned on C-SPAN once again and who should have the floor but the Vermont zombie Jeffords.

Never took his eyes off the script some staffer must have written for him.

One of them must be giving him acting lessons too because a couple of times he actually tried to use gestures to make a point. It was like watching a kid try to pat his head and rub his belly simultaneously.

Have a nice holiday, Jim, and see if you can find your new office when you get back. I think it's going to be in Baltimore.

Special Bonus Attraction of the day!

Wasn't it great to have Hillary presiding when she had to call the vote total for cloture?

It's a wonder she could speak with her teeth grinding that hard.

I feel better allready!

I think the Jefford's ineptness was captured in a paragraph or two in Ann Coulter's latest book, 'Slander'.

And no, I do not have pictures to share with fellow Freepers. :)

I agree that Larry Craig is very special. He is as sincere as he is intelligent. We are very proud of him here in Idaho. He really reflects what I think most Idahoans stand for.
