Is Al Gore raising two pussy cats for kiddies?

When I was growing up (in an Irish household, albeit, where words are a bit more...erm..lyrical...than most places)..I would have been relieved at niceties like 'Get out of Cheney's House'.

*LOL*

I started lurking on FR during the 2000 election, and all through the nightmare that followed I visited FR at least two or three times a day. The posts here were a welcome antidote for the constant stress I was feeling every day. I was convinced that Gore would somehow find a way to steal the election. Why not? For 8 years Clinton had had the luck of the devil himself, and I just naturally assumed that this luck would rub off on The Tree. I was sure that everything was stacked in his favor.

But then I read the stories about the demonstration at Cheney's house, and for the first time I felt some hope. Here were some people just like me, and they were being heard. I had never associated protest with the right before, but now it seemed like a natural fit. Suddenly I had the feeling that we weren't going to lose this one. Eight years of cynicism dropped off me like a boulder from my back. Man, did that feel good. :-)

Thank you, Freepers!

>> There were people who wanted to fan the … the flames of the racial issue

There was a racial issue? I hadn't heard.

Buses? I was there, and I didn't see any buses. Did anyone else see any buses? "Organized"? "Republican response"? I'm an independent, and I drove up from North Carolina in my own little heap, because I was so angry about the Democrats disqualifying absentee military ballots in Florida.

We held up signs and chanted, but we stayed on our side of the street, a long way back from the residence. I don't see how it could have intimidated anyone. We were demure and well-behaved, as protestors go.

Did anyone hear the "whale sounds" Mrs. Gore said she played? I didn't.

As for Mrs. Gore's insinuation that we shouted things that were improper, the only dirty words I heard were from the side of the street with the pro-Gore people. They were few in number, but they made up for it in nastiness. One of them walked down the street in front of us at one point, shouting "F___ing fascists!" at us over and over.

Typical demoncrat mindset: We "little people" have no right to protest our "leaders."
