It seems to me this was tried in 1861 and failed miserably. Why do they belive 1 state can do what several couldn't do then? How many votes did the Libertarian candidates get last election? Wouldn't it be better to join the winning team to engage your ideas in their group?

These are questions that should be answered before going off half cocked. Otherwise, I wouldn't be totaly against taking over some place like Costa Rica or Belize like we did in the good ole days and civilize them with the Bible and the Constitution.

You didn't understand the premise behind the "Free State" proposal, chuckles.

The plan is to stay a member of the United States, but to run the government of the STATE they chose according to Constitutional guidelines.

They hope that if they succeed, other State governments would follow their lead, and thus over time return our nation to it's original libertarian principles, abandoning socialism in the process.
