Laser technology could be right around the corner, so perhaps we'll keep the MX until that day comes. And of course, we also currently have 500 Minuteman III ICBMs (totaling 1500 warheads) and 408 SLBMs (totaling 3,456 warheads). ...so we're still well armed.
