Zoffinger, treasurer COMPLAINANTS: FEC Initiated SUBJECT: Excessive contributions DISPOSITION: Conciliation Agreement: $75,000 civil penalty* DOCUMENTS ON PUBLIC RECORD: Conciliation Agreement; certification of vote by Commissioners (dated October 15, 2002)

*There are four administrative stages to the FEC enforcement process:

1. Receipt of proper complaint 3. "Probable cause" stage 2. "Reason to believe" stage 4. Conciliation stage

Governor Florio who lost the primary in New Jersey to mega moneybags Jon Corzine got caught overstuffing his PAC.

The wheels of justice at the Federal Elections Commission grind slowly...

And until the AFL CIO sued them and won, the FEC didn't bother to let us know what happened to these cases.

Yawn ...

It's only money. Now, if they got jail time, then it would be significant. As it is, they'll just pay the fine with other illegal (but undetected) money.

No no no. Until the AFL-CIO sued them, the FEC routinely released these cases in detail. Since the AFL-CIO lawsuit, which the agency is appealing, it has had to heavily redact files and keep many under wraps completely, which has slowed the release of cases way way down.
