"Today's stealth aircraft somewhat resemble the old Flying Wing prototype."

Correct.........only I'd say that the B2 resembles the old Flying Wing one helluva lot!!!! :)

Interesting plane, the B-36. I've never seen one, but would really love to. Six prop, four jet engines. EXTREMELY complex weapons system, that airplane. Sizeable crew.......VERY long preflight process. Never saw combat.

Interesting plane, the B-36.

The first non-stop, around the world trip by an airplane took off from and ,of course, later landed at Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth. The year was probably 1948 or 1949. Unless I am mistaken, I believe the airplane was the B-36. I am going strictly from memory here and could have the date or the plane wrong, but I can't think of any other plane that might have accomplished this feat shortly after WW II>

As for the Flying Wing, I saw a documentary on it on one of the cable channels a couple of years back. They have film of the thing performing, and it appears to have flown and manuevered beautifully. They said it also provided a very stable and accurate bombing platform.
