Since when?

I don't think it has to, but it can, like many other things in life.

Like the Cardinal refusing to look through Galileo's telescope because he knew from his faith how the moon and planets must appear (perfect) and anything he might see through a telescope that might contradict that view would be a deception.

Other religious folks (everyone operates on presuppositions and faith of some sort)believe all truth is God's truth and seek for truth from whatever its source, cost what it may. You'll find as many atheists terrified of empirical data contradicting their materialist/monist view of the universe and existence as fundamentalists hiding from science and pop culture.

By the by, after a day of services, I've settled down to South Park on the set, FR on the computer and a couple Corona. I appreciate the skeptic critique of religion - but I find narrow minded bigots fearfully guarding their worldviews and beliefs on both ends of the spectrum; and both religious and 'non-religious.'
