I don't think America lurched to the right at all. I see it simply as people finally getting sick of the far left Democrats who simply went too far. America overall is to the left of what used to be the Democratic party. John Kennedy would be called a far right wing nutcase today. Now if everyone started agreeing with me that might be a real lurch to the right.
