Well, I don't believe I am wrong (I saw the press conference), but lets say I am. So what?

I would much rather have the governemnt err on the side of over-protection, than under-protection.

They are welcome to monitor anything and everything I come in contact with. I don't break laws and I don't have anything to hide. I volunteer my records. It's not an invasion of privacy if you welcome the process.

Clinton did eight years of damage to this country without any of the things conspiracy paranoids scream about today. And any Clinton clone who might get elected will do the same, regardless of existing law. Everyone knows, the Left had 40 years to restrict the power of the good guys to defend us. It's now time to stop the bad guys.

Give us a call when any part of the Homeland Security bill touches you.

That's the whole point, Deb. It is your perogative to surrender your own rights voluntarily. It is NOT your perogative to have me surrender mine against my will. Oh, and BTW, I have never been convicted of anything worse than a traffic ticket. It's not that I have something to hide. It's that I have something to protect - my rights.

"Well, I don't believe I am wrong (I saw the press conference), but lets say I am. So what?"

Ask the Jews in 1946 if they still said "so what".

"I would much rather have the governemnt err on the side of over-protection, than under-protection."

It's that kind of thought that created the Soviet Union. Is that your idea of a desired society?

"They are welcome to monitor anything and everything I come in contact with."

Good for you. Not for me.

" I don't break laws and I don't have anything to hide.I volunteer my records. It's not an invasion of privacy if you welcome the process."

Bleet away. God Bless you.

"Clinton did eight years of damage to this country without any of the things conspiracy paranoids scream about today."

They are not screaming? Jesus, what boards do you visit, DU???

"And any Clinton clone who might get elected will do the same, regardless of existing law."

Now you've called W a Clinton clone. I object to that.

" Everyone knows, the Left had 40 years to restrict the power of the good guys to defend us. It's now time to stop the bad guys."

Finally we agree. So why do my Constitutional rights have to be sacrificed to do it? If my Grandmother speaks out against the government and hates the war, does that entitle a 91 year old woman to go to jail because of the 1st Amendment being suspended to make you feel safer. You have that soccer mom view of the world. Soccer is a danger. Make your kids quit now before they think Nancy Pelosi is an attractive role model.

"Give us a call when any part of the Homeland Security bill touches you."

It will. Once implemented, my ability to share technological advances in the Carribbean islands will be higly scrutinized and in the long run cost me business. But as long as Nick-at-Nite is still on and you can enjoy mandated tie soccer games, I guess that's ok.

You really do disappoint me sometimes, Miss Sheeple.

Well, I didn't see the press conference, but I have read pertinent parts of the bill and the information from the agencies responsible for implementing these programs. There are parts of this bill that are blatantly unconstitutional. If you do not think our Constitution is worth fighting for, then I have nothing more to say to you.

As to the rest of your protests, I have to direct you back to my post #87. Most of this legislation was Clinton’s dream. And don’t forget, RICO was passed by a Republican administration and FACE by a Republican congress. Are you sure you want more?

I will not wait to raise the alarm until I am affected. Anyone who does so is a coward. Reverand Niemoeller's quote has been posted numerous times to this thread--though I suppose you think he was an idiot.

I would much rather have the governemnt err on the side of over-protection,

Do you actually think the government can protect us? I think you've got another thing coming. Al-Qaida already claims they have 7 nukes in 7 US cities. I would not be surprised to turn on the TV some day and see mushroom clouds on the screen. Our borders are seives. You could practically march and army across. Oh, yeah, an army marches across every night in the form of illegal aliens. Who knows what they bring with them.
