It's faked, I'm pretty sure, although it's difficult to be absolutely certain with an image downsized this much. The clues are that the front of the binoculars are much smoother than the rest of the image, indicating the smudge tool was used. Also, if you'll look at the right collar on the soldier behind the front end of the binocs, the collar is missing, and that part of his shirt matches the background camo, not the camo on his uniform. This means the clone tool was used to cover the hanging binocular caps. His ear (the soldiers), has also been worked over with the smudge tool, probably to cover up an error made with the clone tool. That's my take, anyway.

That photo is faked. Notice the area where the lens caps would be dangling ... the shoulder and neck of the soilder standing there have evidence of a the deception ... what happened to his shirt and collar?

Not a very convincing photoshop job, but after visiting that site (www.rense.com) I don't suppose they get very many people that are smarter than the average anti-semitic, DU types anyway.

I missed the cloned part. The texture and color of the bushes behind the subject don't come close to matching.

Clinton was on the DMZ in Korea..and had the caps on...at one time he also had the binocs backwards...smiling all the way and agreeing that he was seeing what the grunts were telling him was 'out there'
I believe when Bush visited the exact same place they took another pic of Bush looking with the binocs pointed correctly and the caps off...
It was a funny funny photo op...

Look at the Prez right hand. White and no shadows. Compare it to the officers hand/face.

I spent 32+ years "in harness" and I wish I had a nickel for each time I raised the binos to realize I left the lens caps on!

Here is an e-mail that I just sent to the folks at snopes.com:
Re: Your story about Clinton vs. Bush with binoculars:
http://www.snopes.com/photos/binoculars.htm

Please look more closely.

The SECOND photo that you have posted - of President BUSH with the lens covers still on - is OBVIOUSLY an altered image.

See, from the discussion thread at the conservative news forum www.FreeRepublic.com -
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/788293/posts?page=41#41 -

"...Also, if you'll look at the right collar on the soldier behind the front end of the binocs, the collar is missing, and that part of his shirt matches the background camo, not the camo on his uniform. <<<<<< end of quote >>>>>

Many people (myself included) believe that snopes has fallen from its original lofty perch as a "finder of FACT," and has now become yet another tool of the "Vast LEFT Wing Conspiracy." :(

To correct THIS "urban legend" - if that perceived bais is indeed NOT intentional - please modify what APPEARS to be an obvious anti-Bush bias to this report. :o)

Bubba is clearly a fool in the original pair of images; attempting to mitigate that fact with a BOGUS counter-example showing that Dubya is, too - is "spin" - NOT fact. IMHO.

Thank you,
RonDog (I gave then my REAL name, and e-mail address.)

Ahh... I think they did catch George W. in a moment before he realized the caps were on. If you look at the pic on the Snopes sight, it is much clearer, and the image modification we notice is from someone removing the red circle from the image. The image with the red circle clearly shows the stars on the officer on the right's collar.

Maybe you (and they) are correct... :)
Still, they need blasting every now and then, just to keep them honest, IMHO. :o)

Strangely enough, in the photo of Bush on Snopes.com, you can see the 4 stars on the generals collar ... in the photo posted here (up the thread) that same area is mangled somewhat indicating manipulation ...

I don't know which is real or not, but I believe most people would, when handed binocs, put them to their eyes first without checking for lens caps ... photos could have been snapped in that moment ...

Either way, Bush isn't dumb (don't misunderestimate his strategery), and Clinton is still a sociopath led around by his dick.

Remember, Clinton is the guy who wanted to send Ninja turtles rapelling down from black helicopters after bin Laden. Truly, a military genius on a par with Sun Tzu, Napoleon Bonaparte and Jimmy Carter.
