This is a good thing. These re-enactors need to make it clear that they are interested in the HISTORICAL value of such re-enactions. They need to reject all the political reasons for the secession of the slave-holding states, and particularly the forces of reaction once the rebellion was put down.

The military history is fascinating, even if the political history stinks.

Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest would be proud...though he started the Klan as a group to combat carpetbagger reconstruction; he officially DISBANDED it in 1869 when it became violent against blacks--(a little known fact of liberal history which always seem to portray Gen. Forrest as the most virulent of racists).
