And when was the last time the country elected a rich snob from Mass?

Is this a trick question? :) Kennedy was rich, he was from Mass., but he wasn't really a snob per se IMO. He had a sense of entitlement, but he was no snootbag from what I've read.

I don't think anyone will beat GWB anyway. I am sure he'll win a second term. I am worred about 2008 and Hillary. {{{{shudder}}}}

I saw Kerry this morning on that kid's new show, Sunday Morning with George Stephanopoulos or whatever it's called. There is no doubt whatsoever that Kerry is running for President, and George gave him the opportunity for his breakout speech this morning. Man, he was all fire and brimstone, all liberal, all Democrat. He came off like he had a chip on his shoulder. This breakout speech was definitely aimed straight at the scumbag "base".

Initially I poo-poo the idea of Tom Nutsack of Iowa. Mostly because of lack of money, and being from small state Iowa. However he does not come off too swarmy, and he was one of the few D bright spots last week.

The DesMoines Register had an article today, mentioning this very subject. I initially saw it as homerism, but maybe he could be the real deal. The article talked about Gov Dean of Vermont as well. They were trying to decide who a good party leader could be. They preferred a governor over a senator/rep.

Dean won't work because he's from New England. I saw Bayh on Fox. I don't think he can win Democratic primaries but he was a 2 term governor from fly over country

Vilsack/Nutsack is just below the radar to remind me of Carter/Clinton. He scares me. I honestly don't know squat about him, but I didn't about Clinton. We should post a freeper watch on him.

Yes, it's been 40 years, and I don't think folks are any longer interested a prez from that part of the country (or the far west, for that matter). If Kerry were from the 'heartland', I might be more concerned.

On the other hand, I do think you're right about Hillary running in 2008. The party will flock around her because she's all they've got. My theory in the first paragraph might not hold in her case for two reasons: 1)name recognition and; 2)she'll try to pass herself off as the girl Arkansas. And since most Americans don't do their homework, they'll forget her big city origins and her eastern seaboard platform.

Here's my assessment of John Kerry:

Likeability: 0
Appeal to the Heartland: 0
Conservative votes: 0
Chances of beating Bush: 0

Kerry is an egomaniac, and Bush will clobber him by 20 points, at least.

He gets up everyday and looks in the mirror to wonder why he isn't President.

The answer my dear John is that you are not Presidential material.

Kerry is probably more liberal than Tax Hike Mike. Go to the ACU's ratings archive and see for yourself just how much of a "New Democrat" Sen. Kerry is.

The Democrats don't need John Edwards to convince the dead to vote for them; they've had their minions do this for them for decades.

I don't think he is well known in all parts of the country. Remember most people don't pay attention to politics like we do. Most cannot name their own Reps. I would bet that most people from Texas and West have no idea who John Kerry is nor do they care.

Algore will absolutely destroy this guy. Just like he did to Bill Bradley. Algore may be a dunce but he is brutal and ruthless politician. Bush will smoke him in the rematch but he is a shoe in for the nomination after this week's events.

I seriously doubt that Gore could beat Kerry.

Let's see. Vilsack might enter the race and would take Iowa. Then we'd go to New Hampshire, where Kerry/Dean would probably beat Gore. Vilsack would either drop out or continue. Gore would have to get the South to nominate him. He'll have to let it rip in South Carolina.

I'd be laughing at that spectacle.

Who even cares who Democrats run?

What about 2008? Who should we run? Anyone like my Junior Senator, Rick Santorum?

You are confusing Bob Kerrey (Nebraska) with John Kerry (Massachusetts.) Bob Kerrey saw a great deal of close-quarter infantry combat as a Navy Seal. John Kerry saw a couple of exchanges of fire (where by all accounts he aquitted himself well) while briefly accompanying a river patrol boat.

His primary impact on Vietnam was to strengthen the morale and fighting spirit of those NVA and VC setting mines, boobytraps and ambushes for our grunts humping the bush, when he threw replicas of his medals at the White House for the cameras in an (ultimately succeful) effort to score chicks for himself.

Isn't this the guy who went to protest the Vietnam War by throwing someone elses purple heart over the WH fence?
