Here are two things that really irritated me in this past election:

1) The AFL-CIO spammed me on my cell phone, asking me to vote for the 'rat running for Congress in my district (Dan Wofford, 6th District PA)!

I don't know how they got the number for my cell phone. The only people who know the phone number for this particular phone are (1) Verizon and (2) my wife. Verizon claims they don't sell lists of cell phone #'s and my wife certainly didn't give it to them. (My suspicion is that someone from the CWA union stole a list from Verizon.)

What really gets me is that this call used some of my minutes on my plan! If they want to call my house, I won't like it, but it doesn't cost me anything. They got a lot of nerve calling cell phone numbers.

2) It seems that the 'rats have adopted a strategy of creating signs that make it appear that their candidates have some groundswell of Republican support. Around here (where the GOP is pretty strong), there were signs saying "Republicans for Rendell" and "Republicans for Wofford". No Republicans paid for or made these signs - they were made by the Democrats to try to fool people (as the 'rats are so good at doing).

I say that in 2004, the GOP start making signs saying "Democrats for Dubya" or something like that.

Yeah calls like that on your cell phone are very annoying. The last time I got a new number, I think it had previously belonged to a hooker. At first I was angry but then it got to be so intertaining it made me laugh.

Maybe they were just dialing random numbers. The majority of phone numbers in most areas in use somehow. Just dial them all. Computers do that stuff real easy.

In Maryland, there were lots of bumper stickers that said "Democrats for Ehrlich." We now have Governor Elect Ehrlich, despite the 2-1 voter registration for the Rats.

You are correct, but the 2:1 ratio is a little misleading. Many Republicans and Independents register as Democrats in Maryland so they can vote for or against candidates in Democrat primaries (cross-over voting is not allowed).

I love your board name. I haven't seen or heard that expression since my Grandma died. You have got to be of Italian descent. Usually, the expression was followed by a rant about something. I never did get the translation. Thanks for the memories.

Could be. BUT - in general, cell phone number exchanges are not related to the exact area where you live, like your land line phone exchange. The AFL-CIO must have known that I lived in the district where Wofford was running, and they couldn't tell that just by the phone number. Unless they were calling every cell phone number in Pennsylvania, which wouldn't make sense for one congressional district.

Ah - so it wasn't obvious from your phone number that you were in Wofford's district. Ok I too am puzzled now.
