This would be confusing enough if these people had only one name each.
As I understand it, Ahmed Hijazi = Kamal Derwish,
and this is not the same Hijazi as the California State Raed Hijazi.
However Raed Hijazi did know Nabil al-Marabh,
who, in turn, was in contact with al-Qaeda in Buffalo,
and, thus, probably knew Ahmed Hijazi,
and may even have informed on the Buffalo Yemeni 7
in order to secure his release.

Have I got that all straight now?? You may, but I don't. The Buffalo and Portland cases are definitely confusing. And there's so little known about what was going on that there isn't really much in the reports to help distinguish one person from another.
