Well done NC conservatives! If GA conservatives can oust Cleland and Barnes, does this mean Edwards and Easley will be granted private citizenship in 2004?

Let "the Republicans stole the election again" whining from the left to begin.

The software problem caused vote counting machines to ignore most straight party tickets.

This is why I NEVER vote straight party, even if I vote for every R. I don't trust that my vote is counted.

That's why I vote Republican on each race instead of voting straight party.

That's what I do too. Last I heard they were hand counting votes from my district. "Machine malfunctions" dontcha know.

You can pick, but I personally think we can handle them BOTH!

After I posted that I realized they'll both be running in 2004...right? Or do I qualify for a double-doh! Hold muh beer alert? :)

Heard this great news while I was in the car today ..... like Howlin, I nearly ran off the road ...... :-)

In trying to look up whether Edwards must resign the Senate seat to run for the Presidency, I have come across a couple of interesting things in NC election law ......

Article VI Section 4. Qualification for registration.M/b>

Every person presenting himself for registration shall be able to read and write any section of the Constitution in the English language.

Article VI Section 8. Disqualifications for office.

The following persons shall be disqualified for office:

First, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God.

So far I haven't found the answer I was looking for but here's a link to what I'm checking out in case someone wants to see if I'm missing something.

It does say that one cannot hold two elected offices at once but that doesn't necessarily preclude running for two concurrently.

SUFFRAGE AND ELIGIBILITY TO OFFICE

You know, "I'm a conservative, but the Dems control the State House, so if I don't vote for them, I won't have any influence."

The thought goes double for county comissioners and school board elections.

A big grin BUMP! Thanks for the ping; I've been out and didn't hear this news until now. There's a crack in the dem wall now. Rolling up my sleeves to make it larger......Easley and Edwards have got to goooooooo.

While surfing TV last night (and after not watching Chris Mathews for at least a year), I heard him going over the pitiful prospective candidates for 'o4.......when he got to Edwards' name, Chris asked, "What's he got but cute?"

Down here in GA, we think we're going to have enough aisle-crossers to control the State Senate.

I heard that on Fox tonight! Way to go!!!

Me either. This story just confirmed my suspicions.

"What's he got but cute?"

Chris is right for once but, unfortunately, in this age of tv being telegenic is all that matters to some. They don't realize that there needs to be some gray matter under that pretty hair.

Disclaimer: I don't think the Ambulance Chaser is "cute" but realize that many people think that he is.

Now, if we can just get the word that the provisional ballots in Wake County are counted and Donnie Harrison is the NEW sheriff, my political life will be complete!!!!!!!

What is the current make-up of the NC Senate? Last time I saw any info, the Republicans had shortened the difference by a few seats on Tuesday. If still in Democrat hands, lets organize NOW and take the General Assembly AND Governor's Mansion in 2004. Let's keep the "Big Mo" going!
