[history]
Public school districts and state education officials are failing to monitor the academic success and financial health of California's charter schools, state Auditor Elaine Howle said in a report released Thursday.
The inch-thick report on the taxpayer-funded alternative schools also found that some public school districts may be collecting fees from charter schools they sponsor without using the money to hire and train staff members to conduct oversight.

If this had been a Christian charter school, THAT WOULD BE THE FOCUS OF THIS STORY! This is so outrageous I can't stand it. Good grief!!

Thanks for the BUMP! I'm gonna call Assembly"woman" Sarah Reyes (liberal democrap from hell) and ask why the Muslim connection was conveniently left out of this story.
To: Saundra Duffy
If I'm not mistaken, this wasn't *just* a Muslim school. It was an al Furqa-run charter school and the folks who ran the place have either disappeared or are at other al Furqua camps.

Yep. Do you have any idea why this "reporter" would write this incomplete crap?

Thanks to Clovis Skeptic, one year ago, a lot of Freepers became aware of this al Fuqra encampment near Clovis and the millions of $'s they got in funding to run a phoney Charter School.
Amazingly, shortly after a lot exposure on Free Republic and many Rats in Sacramento getting emails with copies of what we knew, their charter funding was stopped.
Shortly afterwards, the school was closed down and so was their al Fuqra compound.
Here is an example of what can happen when Freepers get involved: (Link to an al Fuqra compound near Clovis and their involvement with a phoney Charter School)

Thanks, Grampa Dave, but the question remains - Why did this "reporter" omit the Muslim connection AND why did she basically fail to report on the full findings of the investigation - maybe there was no full investigation? I know Clovis_Skeptic was the main freeper who was looking into this but I think he got banned from FR. (Don't know why for sure but I know it had nothing to do with this story.) Anyway, I always thought we Fresno area FReepers should have freeped that compound but now it's too late, I guess. Are they really gone? Is that compound completely abandoned? Does anyone know?

Just called Assembly"woman" Sarah Reyes' office. They said I should speak with the reporter. (I have already sent an email to the reporter.) Anyhoo, the guy at Reyes' office was very polite. He said the FBI investigated and found no wrongdoing by the Muslim community. If/when I hear back from the "reporter" I'll let you know what she says. I did tell Sarah Reyes' office that their boss should be commended for calling for changes in the charter school system in California.

Grampa Dave - thanks for providing the FR link. I wish Clovis_Skeptic were here so we could commiserate with him. He was hot on this story. Actually, I think I have an email address for him. I'll send him the link.
To: Saundra Duffy
Knowing reporters, the reporter--if it's a young reporter-- wrote the story from either a press release, press conference or report the reporter was handed.

The newspaper article has the wrong email address for Maxwell. I'll give her a little call. Rats!
To: Catspaw
Oops. The paper does have the right email address for the reporter. I mistook an "L" for an "I". That's all. Mistake corrected. Here's my email message to her:
Ms. Maxwell: Why is there no mention in today's article of the fact that Gateway charter school system was/is a Muslim-run organization? Why on earth would you leave that out?! It's an outrage. Perhaps it was a front to funnel financial support to terrorists? (Where did all the money go?) I'm going to expose you on the Internet.
To: Saundra Duffy
After the experiences I've had with the press regarding the Boy Scouts, I'd warn you not to presume bias or conspiracy when the actual answer is sheer incompetence.

Thanks for the "he he he" bump. If I hear back from this reporter, I'll post it here. Meanwhile . . . this remains a mystery to me.
