Yeah, those blasted mules! My husband and older son went down on them, and I couldn't even bear the thought of it! When they came back and said how close they came to the edge, with their legs dangling out over the abyss, I was really glad I hadn't gone along!

That place is so beautiful from the top! Why does anyone want to ruin it by going down inside it! :o)

It's all about perspective. There's an IMAX theater in Grand Canyon Village that shows what it was like to ride the river in the early days. The walls of the inner gorge are high enough that you can't see anything else of the canyon beyond them from the river.

Everything is different when you're halfway down, or all the way to the bottom, or looking from different angles, ie., North Rim or East Overlook. That is one place that truly deserves to be called awesome...and the handiwork of our Lord is so evident there!
