Bill Richardson overwhelmingly defeated Republican John Sanchez and will become the state's first Hispanic governor in two decades

I didn't realize that Richardson is a hispanic name.

``I did everything I could. I couldn't do any more,'' Bowles said.

Meaning: mommy wouldn't give me any more money.

Actually it's not two decades. Toney Anaya was governor until 1987, so it's more a sesquidecade or about three lustrums.

Richardson did get the biggest margin of victory of any governor in NM history, 58% to 37%.

I heard Bill Richardson this morning on Fox News Channel. He ran on tax cuts and economic growth, sounded more like a republican. No wonder he won. I never trusted him as energy secretary but he did scold the Democrat Party for not running on these issues. No wonder he didn't want Clinton near him.
