I heard that Dashole may retire in 2004 ... if this race will be difficult to contest, maybe it would be wise for Thune to take the moral high ground, and then take the seat in 2004???????????? I don't know, just throwing it out there, what do you people think?

If Tommy retires, Thune would be the heavy favorite to replace him. But, if Tommy sticks around, Thune would be the definite underdog in that race and there really aren't any other offices in South Dakota for him to pursue.

If he ultimately loses this, chances are his political career in the state of SD will have to be put on hold for at least six more years.

Its not moral to give up in the face of fraud. Its not moral to through away all of the hard work of your supporters without fighting doggedly, especially when there is already evidence of probable fraud through the FBI investigation. He should demand a full recount and be prepared to file suit.
